The House does not dictate to the executive. The only way to get what you want is to win a presidential election.

That is our system, that's how we do it, and it's high time the democrats remembered that.

They knew full well that the President does not want a timetable for withdrawl; the dems put it in anyway to play partisan games. They have been holding up funding for political power: 6 months have been wasted on a symbolic gesture to their base.

They need to figure out another way to get elected in '08.

Let's use your logic and say Congressional votes represent what the people want. In that case the majority support a timetable.
