Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf ...

are so popular that Chevy only sold 281 Volts and Nissan sold only 67 Leafs (Leaves?) in all of February.

Nobody wants these POS electric vehicles.

In the entire hoistory of the sales of these cars, Chevy has yet to sell their first 1,000 Volts and Nissan hasn't even topped 200 sales of the Leaf.

GM sells just 281 Chevy Volts in February, Nissan only moves 67 Leafs

Peruse Chevrolet's February sales release, and you'll notice one number that's blatantly missing: the number of Chevy Volts sold. The number – a very modest 281 – is available in the company's detailed data (PDF), but it certainly isn't something that GM wants to highlight, apparently. Keeping the number quiet is a bit understandable, since it's lower than the 321 that Chevy sold in January.

Nissan doesn't have anything to brag about here, either (and it didn't avoiding any mention of the Leaf sales in its press release). Why? Well, back in January, the company sold 87 Leafs. In February? Just 67. Where does that leave us? Well, here's the big scorecard for all sales of these vehicles thus far:

* Volt: 928
* Leaf: 173

Ouch. The big questions, of course, revolve around one word: "Why?" Is ramping up production and deliveries still a problem? Is demand weak? Are unscrupulous dealers to blame? When will sales start to climb? And what are these numbers doing to plug-in vehicle work at other automakers? We don't know all the answers, but for more on February auto sales, click here.

I wouldn't mind having a bug right about now.
I'd want the 'super' bug though with the bigger motor.
The regular ones sucked trying to pull a grade.

We put a 350 (not a 327) in a Vega. Needed railroad ties to avoid ripping the rear end out.

*sigh*, if only we could have the Pacer back.

makes me happy i got 280 horsepower.

but man driving across the country to get here in a honda passport sucked ass. the thing was underpowered and stuffed with guitars and related gear. really slow through the rockies. not RV slow, but still, it really sucked.

it doesn't matter what their sales are. you're pre-programmed to hate them, peel.

I don't have to hate them. I am a Ford man through and through. I am merely citing the fact that no one wants these POS electric cars.

  • They have no range
  • They need a special hookup that has to be installed in your home.
  • They cost more in electricity than most cars use in gasoline.
  • They have this huge battery that costs a huge amount of money to replace.
  • We will see what happens when the first one gets totaled in an accident.
  • Emergency personnel are already developing special procedures for dealing with these cars which are involved in an accident.

I will just keep driving my F-350, one ton, crew cab dually.

It may not get good mileage but it's like driving my living room. See if you can get that kind of comfort driving a Volt or a Leaf.

hah, no shit.

once i was loaned out to the legal dept. of one of the big three. a certain car liked to dump its heater core into the passenger area upon impact. some dude got $400k for a ball fry. unfortunately, there were plenty of pictures in the file.

Something I fail to see and nobody was able to fully explain to me yet, is why the advantage of a fully electric car? Don't you have to burn oil to generate electricity anyways? And won't you lose more transmittin those volts over a metal grid?

Now, now, Winky. The advantage is that you can feel good about yourself for saving a planet that you could never stand a chance of destroying in the first place.

Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf, selling like gangbusters

Well Peel if I bought one of these I'm fairly sure
in a very short time I'd feel like an idiot.

True like we could snuff the planet out even if we wanted too.

Got any carbon coupons you want to sell?

Honda Civic GX

Who would have thought $3-a-gallon gas would be such a fond memory?

Of course, when prices were that low you were thinking how good $2.50 looked, but by now you've probably forgotten the last time you paid so little to fill up, anyway.

For me, it was last week, and, frankly, I overpaid. I overpaid a lot.

While it looks like every other Honda Civic on the road, the $24,590 Civic GX I was testing runs on compressed natural gas (CNG). The 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood isn’t much different than one found in a black gold-powered car, but a pressurized fuel system has been installed to deal with gas that is actually in gaseous form.

I think the most viable option has emerged.
