Nothing at all, Windows ME is the Roxxer though.

Ok. That was a joke. Get your ass back in your chair.

Nothing as long as it isn't second edition :D

I've also got Win XP Pro. It won't be installed until the next upgrade, though. Why put perfume on a pig? ;)

And what's wrong with Windows 98? *handonhips
It's not so much that something's wrong with Win98, it's just that Win2k is better.

I realize that's a pretty big blanket of a statement. Some things Win98 may be better for than Win2k. I can't think of what they are off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are some things.

I use Win98 every day at work and it's totally inappropriate for use in a network situation. It just wasn't meant to be a workstation OS. That current personal frustration is a big part of my lash-out against it. One example is there's no way (unless I don't know about it) to lock or secure the workstation on demand. Well, it can be done, if you set the screensaver to require a password, then, when you leave the computer, you pull up the screensaver properties and make it preview. The alternative is to log off, but that closes all the programs I have running. I seem to recall in Win2k there was a "lock computer" function that could be done through the Task Manager.

And I keep mentioning Win2k, but WinXP would be just as fine, too. I didn't want to believe it at first, but I've finally come to realize that WinXP isn't quite as stable as Win2k, although I think both are much better, particularly in terms of long-term stability (having the computer up and running for days at a time without rebooting) than anything before Win2k.

2000's been just as stable as 2K for me. The only time I've been having to reboot is for required windows updates. I could leave my 2K system running for a few months at a time, but I wans't updating either (I also wasn't on DSL either... I was in the dorms on dial-up).

You wanna try that again and see if you can get it right this time?

I thought he meant that the year 2000 was a pretty stable year for him, much like his Windows 2000. :D

NT4 was too, as long as you didn't try to make it do things it wasn't built for (such as play games ;) ).

Edit: [evangelically]Of course, Linux is even better...[/evangelically]

You can't use a Ferarri for an armoured car. Or use an armoured car to win races.

A Ferrari might be able to outrun the bad guys, but not their bullets, plus there isn't room to carry much money, so the first part's fairly true. But I'm sure you could win a race with an armored truck. Just wait for the first round of pit stops, when all the cars are lined up nice and in a row, then plow through them all. By virtue of being the only finisher, the armored car wins. :D

I tried Linux, couldn't ever get TuxRacer to work very good, so I gave up on it.

Actually I still have Red Hat installed on an old Gateway laptop. Still use it occasionally.
