So I wanted to make a tiny loop clip of a piece of video that I have. I went to photobucket to do it but apparently I can't do such a thing through them at my level of membership.
Does anyone know of a way to do that for free or does anyone have the capability to do so?

Animated gif. I use the Gimp. Here's how. :D

Edit: Note that the Gimp does virtually everything Photoshop does.

Um....Chic? So I opened Gimp and the directions make no sense. I can't find the layers thing or anything that lets me work with a video clip.

ooh, quicktime. I wonder if mplayer would do it. Well, that doesn't help you anyway, you don't have a linux box laying around, huh?

I actually know a solution but it's a very labor intensive one.

You know that your trying to use a GNU program to open with a Mac file on Windows computer, right? It's a wonder it didn't have a nervous breakdown.

Nope, just me...and I snapped at Rob whilst trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.
Okay, how long is the video?

About a second or so, that's why I want it looped- for comic effect....and then av sized.

Well, if I were really serious and had the time to spare I might try to get twenty or so various sequential screenshots, layer them in Gimp then save that as an animated gif. Like I said, a little labor intensive. Actually, given the size you're going to shrink it to, you probably could get buy on 12-15 screenshots.

Yeah....I don't think so. To tell you the truth, I am still amazed that I can't loop and shrink through photobucket. The purpose of this was to learn how to do it...but not if it's going to be so....tedious.
Thanks, Chic.

.FLV is a Flash video. Kinda' videos you get off YouTube etc. If I want to make a small loop out of those things, I import them into Macromedia Flash (or Adobe Flash if you're using the new version) and export it as an image sequence in .PNG format. To make the next step easier, I then isolate the portion of the images I want to make into a loop (eg: image0050.png -> image0070.png)

I then start Adobe ImageReady, import the images as an image sequence, do a bit of cropping, fiddle with the size and the optimization settings then export it as a .GIF.

Only problem here is, this is all assuming you have Flash and ImageReady installed on your computer.

Thank you. Bink. I think I have flash but I am pretty sure it's a no on Imageready. I shall look into it further after a cup of coffee.

You likely have the flash viewer (free) instead of the full version of flash ($700 MSRP) that lets you create flash movies.
