Just say No.

The House could reconsider the Patriot Act as early as Thursday.
The bill unexpectedly imploded last night after the House required a two-thirds vote to pass it.

This new strategy could require a simple majority.

The Rules Committee announced an emergency hearing on Wednesday on provisions of the legislation, which if not renewed, are scheduled to expire at the end of the month.

Anticipating eventual success, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul released a statement Wednesday saying he would oppose the bill in the Senate.

"I firmly believe it is a primary duty of our government to do what it can to protect the lives of its citizens. But I also believe it must in equal measure protect our liberty, and in this our government has failed us. We should remember the words of Ben Franklin, who famously said ‘Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety,'" Paul said.

interesting that there's been some commentary lately on how, despite some superficial differences, obama has essentially ended up running the nation's antiterrorist activities almost the same exact ways as bush did.

luckily, you are the one with secret knowledge of lots of things, so i can escape to mexico while they're busy checking your bum for missile parts.

man I feel like something shook up the 'snow bubble' again.

I can't watch Beck, and the several Republicans on c-span sound like
left-wingers did a year ago.

Man I hope they vote this down.
I'm about ready to cut the tv offff.:retard3:

well, the house just hit the number to pass it.
I hope the senate can squash it.

Some things in the bill might be needed, but they certainly
weren't not debated like they said was supposed to be done.

They need to STOP this easy way out crap, and do the Work.

Re: reconsider what America is supposed to be

An open mind is a sign of ignorance.

I'm only open in certain subjects.
I'm very much closed on some. ;)

I come from a long line of 'Optimist Club' members.
I'm bred to break out of the box periodically. :D
