The man handled it like a boss. The cop reacted the right way.

You have the right to travel unmolested.

The SCotUS ruled that the checkpoints are legal; but is there any lawful duty for any person to participate in them?

They have um here about once a year, or when they are looking for a certain vehicle.
I don't mind a bit, a 5 minute delay, and producing lic, and ins.
I can leave my shovel, and other yard tools including my weedeater out, and no problem with um getting gone.

License & insurance? Fuck that. "Nope, I'm not drunk, see ya" is too much

If it was a property issue, I'm with ya, but the road belongs to the state.
Now if I were a truck driver, I might look at it different too.
They ought to wave them through, unless there's a specific reason.

Actually, as truck driver, I'm obligated to "produce my papers".

However, in a private vehicle, I'm not (see the 4th amendment).
As for the road, no sir, it belongs to me, and all other fuel tax paying
citizens.

All I know is, if you put anything inside 50 feet from the centerline, the state will take it, of whatever
they want to do, and you won't win ANY court case, if one is filed.
Maybe that's a state law, and I'm not sure exactly how it work on interstates...

I believe in individual liberty, and freedom, but with that has to come individual responsibility,
which, unfortunately is lacking badly in the percentage, so we all now have to pay the price.

I don't know if you saw the Stossel special the other day where he was comparing the US to the old Rome,
but the similarities were striking, of how Rome was right before the main downfall.

Unfortunately, you're statement, above, is immediately & irrevocably destroyed by the send part

Pick one. You can't have both
What I believe in, and what is actual law, unfortunately are 2 different things.
I don't happen to be king.
