One of the primary reasons I left the Atlanta area was it's traffic congestion.
As well as the three-ring circus they call the Atlanta city government.

It makes me sad to see Panama City grow to the point where they are four-laning the major routes out of town (mostly for hurricane evacuation purposes as the population grows from its current +/- 77,000), but it still has a small town atmosphere, "good-ol-boys club" politics, and little or no traffic congestion. They recently completed a new pair of bridges to replace an aging bridge between town and the beach, and they are building "flyovers" (similar to the ones in Atlanta on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard north of I-285) to deal with the traffic at the two major intersections at each end of the bridge.

The Florida Department of Transportation does an outstanding job of planning ahead for growth as well as maintaining existing roads. At least in this district, anyway.

Just to piss you off: my 36 mile commute into downtown to work takes 40-45 minutes, with little or no traffic until the final three or four miles. :p

I live about 12 miles from the "Square" in Gainesville, and it take me about
13-15 mins to get there.
(not bad at all really to me)
It just the GA politics that gets me.
