I think the technology has Been in place Somewhat since the Roswell debacle era.
Like that metal that would straighten back out after crumpling up.

It seems many secrets are oozing out of the top secret file as other
nations/individuals farther things like this.

I hope some heavy duty stuff is still being developed by the US.
It seems stagnant from the Clinton era, and Bush has been running it on
a shoestring.
Hell we can't even identify people crossing the borders now, still.
