US surfer's wave turns into whale

A surfer in the US state of California says the wave he was riding on a recent trip turned out to be a whale.

too cool... last time i was out visiting a friend in santa barbara, we were swimming a good bit out from the beach and we came across a good sized whale (not sure of the breed) with two babies a few hundred feet from the shore... was one of the coolest experiences i ever had... very peaceful, and they didn't seem to be too disturbed by our presence either
