Well it seems that somewhere amongst the little changes I've been making to settings and files on my computer I have solved the problem with my soundcard - crackly, broken sound after waking from standby only corrected by reboot - trouble is I don't know which twiddle made the difference so if it happens again I'll be stumped.?(
