Tensions are running hot and deep down at the usually quiet San Francisco public defender's office.
For starters, there's the growing divide between backers of lame-duck chief defender Kimiko Burton and backers of incoming boss Jeff Adachi -- the office's former chief deputy, whom Burton fired when she took over last year.
Adachi doesn't get the job until January -- but already the sniping has begun both inside and outside the office.
