IT seems to me like having one world government would be sort of like sticking the gifted kids in the same class as the dumb fucks. Treat them all the same and the gifted kids will regress... still be sharp but won't be developed. Similarly, one worldwide nation and our standard of living would regress to the mean. I just can't shake the feeling that it would hurt us more than help the third-world nations.

Liberals always think in terms of the rich depriving the poor even when they are in no position to harm them by virtue of distance, etc. Ethiopians were starving because we were eating well, ya know.
Remember the old saw on how "Children are starving in China" because you didn't eat all of your dinner? Did it ever occur to you at that time that even if you did eat all of your dinner the Chinese children would still be starving? Most of us didn't question the premise.
