Holy freakin' power surge!

I just got a Samsung laser printer because I am sick of inkjet woes. I turned it on and the battery backup surge protector started squealing and the lights flickered. Then I put it in the better surge protector and the lights acted like they were losing a lot of power. What gives?!?

Printers (esp laser) do not go on a UPS. They draw too much on warmup and operation.

If the circuit has a lot of load already, simply plugging it into the wall will dim lights too.

I bought a Brother laser printer (didn't plug it into the UPS) and whenever it's on, the lights flicker a bit. Luckily it has a hard on/off switch so I leave it turned off unless I need to print something.
