Internet Dating...

See, I guess I thought it was like a blind date where you meet in a public place. I guess I thought the folks at the site set up the meeting.

Lets ask CB.

The set up is so not user friendly... the searches are way too temperamental ("incorrect postal code" my arse!) there's no instant messaging and the thing thats really ticked me off... in 4 days only 40 visits and one ONE One guy out of all who's visited and all the 12 I've winked and emailed at deems me worthy of a response!!!

I'm on DatingDirect.co.uk with the very same profile and I get at least 10 views a day and I'm literally chatting on IM to on average 3 guys simulataneously!

*to be honest I never read that part until now ,either.

I guess my point is it happened naturally.

that's how i always felt any relationship is best happening... i think you meet better people when you AREN'T actively seeking someone for the sole purpose of dating them, and therefore are also friends first.

I don't recommend paid dating sites in general. If you find someone, you'll probably cancel your account and they lose money, so they're not really motivated to help you find someone.

Try www.okcupid.com and www.plentyoffish.com since those two are free. Even if you don't find anyone, at least you're not out the 45 quid.

How about going about your life doing things that you enjoy and pay attention to the folks that are out there doing the same things as you? You might have something in common with them. You chat, you get to know each other....

And if your real lucky ,they don't ask for the cash up front.

hmmmm internet dating...I have done it and I shall shed insight for those you seem curious.

Usually the timeline is finding each other on the site, emailing through the site, IMing, phone convos, meeting in a public place. It usually all happens within less than a month (if it even makes it through all the steps, I ditch many people after IMing and the majority that make it to phone never make it to face to face).

Tonks is right though, it is very pressure-y. As much as you both say you're just looking to meet new people if there's no "spark" then it never gets to the meeting stage...so if it does get there it's very much pressure like a blind-ish date.

I hate internet dating, I detest it. I've never met anyone that resulted in ANY kind of healthy relationship online. Chris is the only one I ever really dated and that was a hige friggin' disaster. That said, I don't know HOW to date in real life...I've never really done it...I partially blame internet dating for that. Blah, I need someone to teach me how to date...a friend of mine is trying so we'll see.

To be honest this isn't the first time I've internet dated!

5 years ago that's how I ended up having a 3 years relationship...

I use it because I just don't get the opportunity to actually socialise to meet people in the flesh... and when I do get to a pub or club... I'm not physically stunning enough (overweight / plain looking with glasses / modest not highly fashionable dress sense... not a ploy for people to say otherwise its the truth!) to attract attention or the eye of the guys in to chat me up or reciprocate.

Again you can meet blokes whilst sober... library, supermarket/mall, museums/galleries, coffeeshops ... em... I don't get to much else other than that! But as I live with my folks and my friends to socialise with has now been reduced from 2 to 1 as Chlos moved... I'm normally with my parents. Thats NEVER condusive for a pick up! Lots of partners can be friends of friends... but my one friend in this country... has no other friends but me!!!

Lots of people meet at work... but in primary education where women outnumber men 5 to 1? Its hardly likely...any single young fellas quickly get snapped up by the single young lasses and read above why I'm always beaten to the post!

So I do the internet thing... it means they get to "read" my personality... chat to me and discover how beautiful I am as a person BEFORE the size of my ass puts them off!

I'm not ashamed.... I'd rather pay good money for a good service that will help me find the man of most of my dreams... than sit at home moping... waiting for fate or cupid to throw someone into my path!
