Sure...but doesn't it cost twice as much, and use a Toyota engine?

Looks like about 60K either way. Difference is you can buy an Elise right now with your 60K. Good luck finding a 500KR. What's wrong with a Toyota engine?

I don't know of a single Toyota that has come from the factory with a GM engine in it. Ever. I believe I'm going ot have to call "bullshit" on your point there. GM has sold a few rebadged Toyotas over the years.

Mazdas aren't necessarily Fords. Ford owns somewhere between a third and half of the company and the two trade parts. The Mazda B-series truck 1993-up is a rebadged Ranger, but also, many 1991-1997 Escorts had Mazda engines. The Ford Fusion is on the Mazda6 platform. So, some of the cars are shared back and forth, but not all of them. The Mazda3 doesn't have a Ford counterpart.

Linkypoo...

So, as we can see...

If memory serves Toyota and GM jointly owned a factory in CA.

They share engine departments. I never said they shared owners.

My Mazda truck has a Ford recall sticker on the engine. What else you want?

Real world v cyber-clicking. I know what line I'm in.

Call yer damn dealer, or AutoZone. They'll thell ya.

I'm going real world here. There's NEVER been a Toyota with a GM engine in it.

As for your truck... I covered that in my post, which I'm not 100 percent sure you actually read. It refuted that "Mazdas are Fords" because that is an absolute statement, and it is not an absolute fact. I'm thinking the problem here is that I'm right and you're wrong, and you don't like it.

Interestingly enough, I can actually contribute to this conversation. Toyota and GM might share intellectual property ..

They went together to build the Matrix/Vibe. In fact, parts from one are a perfect fit on the other, even tho they did change up a few things just to differentiate between the two. The one place they didn't combine efforts was the engine bay. The Matrix got a Toyota engine, the Vibe a GM. Now if they weren't gonna share engines after doing all the rest of that work together, ....

Whatever. Midol is on aisle 6...

I know what I know. The Mazda parts and the Ranger parts are interchangable, my Mazda engine has a Ford recall sticker on it, and every ASC certified mechanic I know asks me how I like my Mazda Ranger. But please, by all means, hissy away.

Where Mazda and Ford are concerned, you're absolutely right. The last years of the Escort were rebadged Mazdas. Ford finally cottoned onto what Chrysler learned years ago. Americans can't build small engines worth shit. Chrysler went to Mitsubishi and bought most of their small engines there, as well as profiting from them not having any dealerships here and rebadging the mirage, Galant and eclipse models.

So if you use the "I'm right and you're wrong and you just don't like it" line, it's OK, and if I use it, I've suddenly sprouted a pussy and developed PMS? Nice. I still contend you didn't read my post that states that the 1993-up Mazda B-series is, in fact, a rebadged Ranger, but that doesn't mean that a car with a Toyota badge has ever used a GM engine, as you claimed they all do.

Actually, and this is absolutely true, I have NEVER met a Ford auto tranny I can't blow within a week. And I never met a GM auto tranny I could blow at all....PERIOD!

That said Jody drives a '97 Escort and it's a fine car, (Mazda), and I love doing tuneups on it (spark plugs and wires and done). But it is a 5 speed.

I have owned one Ford I liked and it was a '69 Bronco removable hard top, with a 302. That car could go anywhere, and was "stylier", than my 4x4 Subarus, but in the final analysis the Subarus were better cars.

Come to think on it I alwsays herad good things about Mopar auto trannies, but the Duster I had I had to replace that tranny and the new one was slipping (VERY occasionally) by the time I sold it. Nobody (meaning back in the 60s, 70's and 80s) made a better auto tranny than the TH350, PERIOD!

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee another ford thats wants to be a ricer
I don't see this Mustang trying to be a ricer. I see it trying to be a muscle car. That's pretty much the opposite of a ricer.

Regarding Toyota and GM engines: I don't know about a Toyota with a GM engine, but I know about a GM with a Honda engine (Saturn Vue).

But oddly enough, the Ford 9" rear end is far superior to the GM, and is frequently the first upgrade when looking to build more HP
