I don't think the distro matters at all in that case. Of course, there's probably more help out there for SUSE. Gonna use a GUI?

Note that I'm building a mail/IM server on Ubuntu server right now.

I did some reading, it works on ubuntu, so I installed that.

I'm hinging on the debian bases.

I think those distro are becoming the most popular, if they
aren't already.

Claims of the most available programs is attractive.
