Here is a guy who cant even think of his own stories. And not even good at a documentary writer.
Hopefully someone makes him pay for his latest trash.

Moore Film Title Angers Author Bradbury

LOS ANGELES - Ray Bradbury is demanding an apology from filmmaker Michael Moore for lifting the title from his classic science-fiction novel "Fahrenheit 451" without permission and wants the new documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" to be renamed.

"He didn't ask my permission," Bradbury, 83, told The Associated Press on Friday. "That's not his novel, that's not his title, so he shouldn't have done it."

The 1953 novel, widely considered Bradbury's masterpiece, portrays an ugly futuristic society in which firemen burn homes and libraries in order to destroy the books inside and keep people from thinking independently.

"Fahrenheit 451" takes its title from the temperature at which books burn. Moore has called "Fahrenheit 9/11" the "temperature at which freedom burns."

His film, which won top honors in May at the Cannes Film Festival, charges that the Bush administration acted ineptly before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, then played on the public's fear of future terrorism to gain support for the war against Iraq. It opens nationwide next Friday.

Bradbury, who hadn't seen the movie, said he called Moore's company six months ago to protest and was promised Moore would call back.

He finally got that call last Saturday, Bradbury said, adding Moore told him he was "embarrassed."

"He suddenly realized he's let too much time go by," the author said by phone from his home in Los Angeles' Cheviot Hills section.

Joanne Doroshow, a spokeswoman for "Fahrenheit 9/11," said the film's makers have "the utmost respect for Ray Bradbury."

"Mr. Bradbury's work has been an inspiration to all of us involved in this film, but when you watch this film you will see the fact that the title reflects the facts that the movie explores, the very real life events before, around and after 9-11," she said.

Bradbury, who is a registered political independent, said he would rather avoid litigation and is "hoping to settle this as two gentlemen, if he'll shake hands with me and give me back my book and title."

Moore's film needed new distributors after Disney refused to let its Miramax subsidiary release it, claiming it was too politically charged. The documentary was later bought by Miramax bosses Harvey and Bob Weinstein, who lined up Lions Gate and IFC Films to help distribute it.

The movie's distributors are appealing to lower its R rating to PG-13 and a screening has been set for Tuesday by the Motion Picture Association of America's appeals board.

Bradbury's book was made into a 1966 movie directed by Francois Truffaut. A new edition of the book is scheduled for release in eight weeks, Bradbury said, and plans are in the works for a new film version, to be directed by Frank Darabont.

Mr Moore held onto tape proving illegal activities at Abu Ghraib & remained silent for money. He also did a surprising interview with a unknown young man. That man was later identified as Nick Berg. It seems as though there's something else, beside this.

Just another scumbag making a buck off someone elses back.

I saw this story on Yahoo! news yesterday (or was it earlier today?) and it has a picture of Moore with a "Made in Canada" cap on. I don't know if it was a bad camera angle or what, but it looked like someone had bashed in the left (his right, our left) side of his face.

I saw/heard Bradbury speak when Paso Robles opened up its new public library in 1995. Didn't get to shake hands with him or anything though.

Michael Moore: Fat slob

If Mikey Moore is the poster child for the left
and candle-face Kerry is their presumptive
Presidential candidate, then who in their right mind would
want to admit in public that they are associated with the
socialists?

It's my guess that a boatload of self proclaimed communists er um Democrats, in the privacy of the voting booth are going to punch out the chad for good old Georgie this November.

Beyond the argument over the title and the rage of Bradbury over the use of a trademarked title...what is wrong with the movie?

examination of the Bush administration's actions in the wake of the tragic events of 9/11. With his characteristic humor and dogged commitment to uncovering the facts, Moore considers the presidency of George W. Bush and where it has led us. He looks at how - and why - Bush and his inner circle avoided pursuing the Saudi connection to 9/11, despite the fact that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis and Saudi money had funded Al Qaeda. Fahrenheit 9/11 shows us a nation kept in constant fear by FBI alerts and lulled into accepting a piece of legislation, the USA Patriot Act, that infringes on basic civil rights. It is in this atmosphere of confusion, suspicion and dread that the Bush Administration makes its headlong rush towards war in Iraq - and Fahrenheit 9/11 takes us inside that war to tell the stories we haven't heard, illustrating the awful human cost to U.S. soldiers and their families.
Seems to me like this is exactly the kind of thing that we've been hashing out in RW for the past year or so.

Do you mean outside of the fact that he's a declared opinionist? That this movie, like all his others, has no chance of being unbaised?

Correct oh wisened used to be french dude. We are a bunch of accountants, truck drivers, computer workers, moms, dads, sports, wiseasses, etc with a few hours to kill & a belief (or not) in our heart. We pay for our connections to the world. Few if any of us are rich. Fewer would be so bold as to twist a tale so far to our side and present it in a public forum as a documentary film. Expecting & gathering fanfare from our political cohorts, gaining recognition as an independent & reciving awards usually meant for films of a more artistic nature. He's a liar & a braggart.

Take his crockumentary out of the news/information list & put it in the fiction category.
