Seasonal Lull

‘Twas the week around Christmas
and all through the 'net
not a pixel was stirring
on that you could bet

All the members were sitting
offline with their families
with fingers a twitching
to post some banalities

When all of a sudden
there arose such a clatter
of keystrokes and backstrokes
and general banter.

I rushed to my browser
And logged in to see
Just one member logged on
Including poor me.

The libs and the cons
with their families, had stayed
while mine was away
all logged off instead.

On Google, on Yahoo!, on MSN too
on Hotmail, A.O.L. and Even Canoe
I searched for some ‘issues’ that I could but share
To bring back my friends online, should they dare.

A poem, thought I,
Might just do the trick
To bring them all back
Clickety –click.

So with Word up a running
I typed this up quick
And posted just now
Like a geeky St.Nick

A present of words,
Ideas, and letters
And I wait alone
For some of my betters

To debate me, laugh with me
Perhaps just to lurk
So I sit here, just waiting
Just waiting at work.

For someone to logon
And type something like a dear.
And if not, I guess I’ll sit here all day and just wait
Merry Christmas lag to all, and a Happy New Year.

If I were a romatic I would have something to say here but since I am not there is little to say...Highwayman skulks from the thread...
