Slow down

Has anybody else noticed a decided drop in loading speed recently?

I'm actually having to wait for threads to open. :grumpy:

It does it for me sometimes but this is not the only site that can be slow, I figured it had been my ISP and the time of day...

Better today but I've noticed it, off & on, for the last week or two.

Considering you have 15Mbps internet, if the page loads at 1Mbps you'd think it is slow.

If that were it that, this would be in the joke forum. I'm talking about 5-20 seconds, per page.

Which is why I'm looking to see if I'm alone. If it's OTC in general or just my connection.

The whole OTC site was down for a few minutes just a bit ago. I could get to other sites just fine.

Speed is OK here, but just now I tried to go into a thread I had just posted in mijnutes before and it won't load. Only that thread, any others are (obviously) fine. That's happened to me a few times lately...next day or so it's loading the same thread. Weird?

ity's always seemed a little slow, in my short time here.

you hit the last post icon and the first post comes up for a short while before the relevant post is relayed.

Has it always been like that - or does that not happen to others?

It's been slow at times for me for some time now, but my Charter cable
has been acting up for a while too.
Sometimes, it won't pull up sites that I know are working fine.
I have a backup dial-up connection, and it will pull up the same sites fine.
I think they are messing with the dns stuff, or something to get their new
phone service setup.

While I'm on the subject of ISPs...
[rant]
The other day we had a Charter tech down to check out our connection (again),
and he told me some inside info.
He said the way the handle the support tickets now, since they started the
phone thing is... they put the New phone service problems ahead of all the
other services, then TV, and Then internet services.*handonhip

He also told me that if only one place is having a problem in an area, that
they are put in line behind areas that have several outages.
I can kinda see that from a business standpoint, but when it takes 6 months
to a year to get a problem fixed, that's a little ridiculous.
The other week though, my cousin which has a big account with them,
was down for 3 days, and they have to have a connection to run his business.
It was anticipated that the connection might go down sometime though, and
he had a satellite connection setup for a backup, and has had to use it several
times since going to this new program back in June.

I'm not sure what all the requirements are to constitute a monopoly, but
in my case, there aren't any other options for high speed internet.
There is DSL in the area, but they screwed my land-line up so that it won't qualify anymore.
There are also 2 other cable companies close, but they have like territories
or something, and they won't cross each other.

I could go on and on, but I cut it off here.:D

Woah, that's a lot of time. Any page loads in less than 3 seconds here, unless it is bloated with pics.

From the front, I clicked on this thread link & it took 8 seconds to open. The whole site is slow right now. Maybe it's a time related thing. Who are we sharing the server with?

Speed is as usual. I think your path gets a lot of traffic and you're getting affected because of it. Here's my "tracert www.otcentral.com"

We went from *gasp* dialup at 24K max to wireless a few months ago here in the wilderness so everything seems fast now. But it IS slowing, at least as I get more impatient. (SCREAMS "I WANT IT NOW!!")

SO, it's not just mine. Ok then, what's the problem? This version not a happy camper? The server getting overloaded? Happy feet?

Too cute for words
Given Sam's tracert (and not having anyone else's) I'd still guess net traffic.
Mine is running fine right now, but I've had some slowdowns too. I've been blaming it on Bell South (they're upgrading some of their network infrastructure) but maybe it's more widespread than that. Too many people working on the intraweb interfering with my time wasting. :D Bastiches!!!!
