It's been slow at times for me for some time now, but my Charter cable
has been acting up for a while too.
Sometimes, it won't pull up sites that I know are working fine.
I have a backup dial-up connection, and it will pull up the same sites fine.
I think they are messing with the dns stuff, or something to get their new
phone service setup.
While I'm on the subject of ISPs...

The other day we had a Charter tech down to check out our connection (again),
and he told me some inside info.
He said the way the handle the support tickets now, since they started the
phone thing is... they put the New phone service problems ahead of all the
other services, then TV, and Then internet services.
He also told me that if only one place is having a problem in an area, that
they are put in line behind areas that have several outages.
I can kinda see that from a business standpoint, but when it takes 6 months
to a year to get a problem fixed, that's a little ridiculous.
The other week though, my cousin which has a big account with them,
was down for 3 days, and they have to have a connection to run his business.
It was anticipated that the connection might go down sometime though, and
he had a satellite connection setup for a backup, and has had to use it several
times since going to this new program back in June.
I'm not sure what all the requirements are to constitute a monopoly, but
in my case, there aren't any other options for high speed internet.
There is DSL in the area, but they screwed my land-line up so that it won't qualify anymore.
There are also 2 other cable companies close, but they have like territories
or something, and they won't cross each other.
I could go on and on, but I cut it off here.
