The latest BIG step towards eradicating Breast Cancer

In a world first, Canadian scientists have decoded all three billion letters of DNA in a breast cancer tumour and identified the mutations that caused the cancer to spread.

The landmark study by researchers at the B.C. Cancer Agency is a first step towards unlocking the secrets of how cancer begins and moves to other parts of the body.

Principal investigator Dr. Samuel Aparicio says the discovery should help researchers develop new breast cancer treatments based on the mutated genes.

Aparicio says the work is another major step towards personalized medicine.

Co-author Dr. Marco Marra says new-generation technology allowed the researchers to decode the breast cancer DNA in just weeks and at a fraction of what it would have cost only a few years ago.

The study is the cover story in this week's issue of the prestigious journal Nature.

Only treatments. Not eradicating. No money in curing it. Lots of money in making it a long term manageable disease.

It's unlikely to ever be eradicated entirely any more than other cancers. They are mutations after all, but methods to stop the spread of the cancer throughout the area or the metastasizing would be great.

New treatments for cancers would be good as well. We have chemotherapy, radiation, surgery (mastectomy) - if we can add gene therapy to this. :aheadbng:

THIS MUST STOP NOW! -- We need to get some court injunctions on this immediately until we can get a series of environmental impact reports done. Breast cancer is becoming endangered due to human intervention and you insane people are rooting it on!

There's only a relative few who will actually benefit from this selfish campaign of eradication. The fact is that we have no idea how this will effect global warming not to mention the future of our planet. Bastards!!!

I propose we cease any further advancement in this dangerous research. We should move all the funding and increase it by 1.8 billion to study the effects that this holocaust will have on our earth.
