It would be more believable if the screen rendered the colors exactly as they were on the blanket behind it, and if the tail were the same color as the cat on screen.
I must be uber-geek, 'cause at first I thought that they were actually selling that stuff, the mechanism should be simple, a small camera on the back of the screen capturing images and a software placing them as your desktop image.
