i want firefox but it messes up a lot of sites i spend most of my online time on, including my livejournal and my own website. that blows. a lot.

i got it anyway, and it doesnt fuck with my website but it does still fuck with my journal.
i noticed it on my bf's comp too, cos he has firefox (his mom got all paranoid and put it on there) and it fucks eith his journal too, as well as mine.
what's funny is that altho each page of my journal uses the same coding, the pages of my journal are the only ones that are screwy; my "friends" page is fine.
ima change my journal, it looked lame anyway.

I've never had a livejournal page look wrong in firefox.

Hey, Ash, did you already change your livejournal code? It renders exactly the same in Firefox as in IE on my system.

yeah, i changed it pretty quick after posting that.
i think it does it to my bf john's journal too, tho. try it out with firefox, it should be www.livejournal.com/~iggytheroach . my old style was basically the same but with different colors and a different picture. on the main page you have to highlight the text to read it, but if you look at the friends page, it shows up fine.
at least it does on our computers.

I figured out why. In the source code, the bgcolor in the table tag is "#000000" (the hex code for black) and in the td tag is "black," and firefox actually pays attention to that. Just remove all the bgcolor attributes from the tags within the table and all should be good.

W3C, anyone?

that's true. only god knows how many workarounds i have made in my life, to keep code compliant, and STILL work with IE, while it worked ok with every other browser.

Big boat big holes!

Sure they do, they don't get any money from me!
They give their software away for free just like
the wannabee Linsucks folks. M$ could put REAL
copy protection in effect but they know that would
just be shooting themselves in the foot and then we'd ALL
use Linus's college project OS. :lol2:

C'Mon I've loaded up and messed with all the Linucks variations going back since 93
and I've always wiped em' out and gone back to M$. Yes if you make your living
administering to a real OS then *nixes make sense but for
the rest of the werld, thank goodness for Billy's OS'es
