I'll probably suffer for this but it must be said. I have changed my mind concerning war with Iraq. I've allowed myself to suffer over this question because i take responsability for every word that comes out of my mouth. If i influence people to lean towards my perspective and i am wrong than who knows what i might be held to account for. So over time i've broken this dabate down to one question. Is attacking Iraq the just thing to do? Notice this question parallels but differs from the question"Does Saddam deserve to be forced out?".
If this were the question than yes, he does deserve it. I think there are just reasons to partake on this mission such as all the suffering within Iraq under Saddsams reign however i don't believe this is why we wish to take action. Put simply i have come to believe that it is the oil. I think it is possible to do the right thing for the wrong reasons. If i see you wearing a foolish article of clothing i can tell you it's foolish because i don't wish for you to look like a fool in public or i can point out in public that your shirt is foolish to try and make you look a fool. One is just the other is not. The Powerful UN leaders are also making their decisions unjustly as they are also influinced by oil but two wrongs do not make a right.
If i truly felt that Iraq were an immidiate threat i would have a different opinion but put simply i feel that Iraq can do very little with the UN breathing down their neck. As many of you already know i'm a staunch supporter of Israel and i also believe if Iraq were an immidiate threat to the region Israel would take immidiate action. They have suffered to great to let things like this go by the wayside. I belive that Saddam does have weapons of mass destruction, that he supports terrorism both literally and figuratively and that action must be taken but not this way.
Again simply put i belive that were it not for the oil within Iraq we would not be taking this path. Please don't anyone accuse me of leaning liberal as that is simply false.
