A question for D&D folks...

I never really got into D&D much but i remember about ten years back reading these D&D character books that my cousin had. They were filled with nothing but hundreds of characters and told detailed information about each character such as their history, powers & stregths, weaknesses, geographical locations etc and for every character there was a high quality drawing. These books alone were just fun to read. I don't however remember what these books were called. Anyone know?

You might be talking about the monster compendiums. The Player's guide have3 some generic characters, but that doesn't seem to be what you're describing. Probably, tho, you're talking about a dungeon master's NPC guide. I can't say I've seen one, but I'm sure there's one out there. NPC=Non-player character. The DM whould use them to fill in a dungeon or story. That way he wouldn't have to create the entire thing himself.

what he said...sounds like the latter to me....but it's been many a moon...

They were definetely npc's. So dungeon master's NPC guide? I'll go look in my local bookstore and ask for it by this name. The whole reason i wanted to know the name is becuase these things tend to be expensive and i don't want to order one online and end up getting something else. We'll see what i can come up with. Thanks.

prof is right they might be npcs. or pre-made characters. also try forbidden realms books. they are based on D/D.

I cheked out their website and found some good sources there. I also found some goodies on kazaa. Here are some pics from one i picked up so far entitled the D&D Monster Manual. These pics aren't the highest rez but you get the idea of exactly what i was after.
