Adware removal for Win 98

So...Malory has her own machine. The problem is is that it's running on 98 and apparently the upgrade isn't really worth it for what ever reason on this particular machine. We'll update it eventually but it was free and we want to run it as is until we are in a position to deal with getting a new tower.

Anywho, I got her some anti-virus protection and spybot but I am unable to get Adaware running as every version of Adaware I am finding requires 2K or XP. So I need an adware removal system that is easy to use and will run on 98 and is...free!
Any suggestions? I was thinking of Hijack This but it is apparently not so easy to use.
 
spybot w/teatimer realtime is all I use for spyware/adware.

I gave up Adaware sometime back for spybot exclusively.

Spybot also has many cool advanced tools...
 
I have it loaded already but I have found that Spybot leaves alot of tracking cookies that Adaware will find...now how harmful those are I do not know.
 
I just clean all my cookies periodically through IE.

If they are all gone, no need to scan for that part.

I usually do that before scanning.
 
Just make sure you have SB updated, and re-check the immunize feature.:nerd:

and you should be good.


If/when you get time, you might want to switch to the 'advanced' menu,
and check out the tools, and stuff.
 
oh, I also do run the teatimer, and if you need a patch for the alignment, I have it.
just lemme know if you need it.
