I just made a purchase on Ebay not realizing when i bid on the item that my Paypal account was low. So i made a partial payment on the item and the guy leaves positive feedback for me and sends me an automatic Email saying he already shipped me the item. Would you complete the payment under these circumstances having nothing to lose?

Yes, without a doubt, it would be against my ethic code not to do it.

I decided to edit out a bad experience I had.

On the other hand, I bought a modem from someone on the web from a HWC member. The guy got my address and sent it to me before I could send him any money. It was an unopen USR external modem that was 129 in stores. He sold it to me for 60 with shipping included. The guy was the best guy I ever dealt with. I sent the money out the same day I got it.

Absolutely, honesty in these kinds of dealings is always best and ratings can be ammended. Not to mention legal action through eBay.

pay if you want - as if anyone here is going to give you better advice on this than you actually think yourself

I posted this before, but it's gone, so I'll say it again. You made a promise, so you need to keep it.

Just so everyone knows, i was never thinking about ripping the guy off.
On another note, i think this this poll is obviously flawed. After all, who's going to stand up and proclaim that they're a theif?

I can't believe you would consider not completing the payment. You would want to be screwed like that if you were him ?

EDIT>>> Just read your last post. OK, my answer is OF COURSE.

As i stated previously, i hadn't even considered not paying him. Anyone who knows me somewhat can attest to that.
