And one for the 'Progressive's'

personally it should be since it said the ex-husband was abusive. that should have come into play.

"It is the policy of the state that you cannot dissolve a marriage when one of the parties is pregnant," Bastine, who is retiring as a judge on Friday, said during oral arguments on the case last month.

I'm no lawyer but.... what does that mean? Non-sensical equal protection, If he's knock-up they cant....

I don't know what I find more disturbing, this or the fact that she had a second child with an abusive man and a third child with an ex-con while still married to said abusive man.

Nevertheless, she should be allowed to divorce the jerk. Then she should have her tubes tied.

"Women should be able to choose for themselves when they want to end a marriage. That's especially important for women in abusive relationships."

Men, on the other hand, must stick their thumb in their ass & wait for a decision?

I never realized it meant anything, but we had to certify that before the judge would grant my divorce too. Didn't have to have any tests or anything, but it had to be stated in the divorce that she wasn't pregnant.

She's concerned about whether she can marry the father of her child before it's born, but she's having sex with someone who is currently in jail. Interesting.

On the other side of that coin, I had to sign an affadavit that I didn't want more children before my wife could have a hysterectomy for cervical cancer.

No, I'm serious. The cancer was in the early stages, but still...

My response was something like, "Are you stupid?"

I give you a lot of credit for not responding with attempted strangulation.

That is not at all uncommon. In LA, when I had a vasectomy they asked nothing. In Ft Wayne, a couple of my wifes sisters had to sign the spousal agreement.

I had to sign an agreement for my wifes hysterectomy. (here)

are you stupid

Smart, unfortunately. Too many lawyers.
