And the ones that are intent on re-offending aren't likely to be forthcoming with their whereabouts either,even if they are required by law.

I was looking at California's Megan's Law site, and it seemed like more than 80 percent of the people in my part of the county that I looked at got busted for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14.

I just read an article in the NZ herald on friday where a bunch of british lads beat what they thought was a paedophile, to death. Unfortunately for the 'paedophile', he wasn't actually one - it was a case of mistaken identity. There was also another case where some people were hassling a woman cos they thought she was a paedophile... but she was a pediatrician. :tardbang:

Yay! I checked! Now as long as I keep em away from that ONE guy, everything's cool? I can let them run free? Is that the mindset? wtf is that? wtf difference does registered make? You're aware of the one who is dumb enough to get caught, and that's it. There is still the 3 others living on the same block. If you're taking care of your kids, it doesn't matter how many registereds or nonregistereds you're surrounded by.

So that means if your kid is raped and murdered by a guy that has already done time for raping kids you as the parent are responsible, the cause if you will.

It's a tool. I hear all sorts of people bitch about how they could use some help in raising thier kids and keeping them safe, and then when they get it, they can't be bothered to use it, or they actively oppose it because of scare stories like the ones BoP has brought out. That's irresponsbile. Period, polka dot, to borrow a phrase.

Scare story my ass. I'd post the link if I could remember the name of the innocent guy who got slaughtered. This "tool" has been directly responsible for vigilantism... which as we all know, can go wrong. :shrug:
