Bad news for conservatives....At least at this point....

Current trends clearly show a majority of folks at the latest polls leaning to vote democrat in 2006.

The Bushies better get a handle on things......If they can! :lol2:

Make of it what you will, there really is nothing here to debate, but I'd wager 2006 is going to have more impact than anyone would guess....Maybe if Bush gets lucky we will get attacked again and people might be stupid enough to rally around him again....Seem's to me 9-11 and invading Iraq are the only things he's done that helped his popularity and I'd bet that had Gore been appointed president like Bush was 9-11 would have done the same for him.

*yawn*

And the polls said we'd all be saying President Kerry too.

It's called strategic timing. The Dems always start early with the smearing and negativity, and the polls sway. Then the Reps counter attack and they sway again. The Dems shoot themselves in the foot by getting their message out too early...by the time the voter goes to the poll, they've heard it a thousand times AND the Reps have rebutted it thoroughly. Plus added their own negativity, which often becomes the last word the voter hears before pulling a lever or whatever they do in your state. And then the news anchors and the chagrined Dems do their collective Homer Simpson immitation ("D'OH!!") and the world continues to spin on its axis and we do it all over again in four years.

Whichever party the president belongs to almost always loses seats in the midterm elections. 2002 was an exception, so I don't see why this should be a surprise.

I'll ask it again, even though everyone will disagree; Why do you think it will make any difference?

Every member of the US House, 1/3 of the Senate, a bunch of state and local level folks, several governors, elected judges, countless local option resolutions, etc. No Presidential election, though.

I'll ask a different question, then. Who's in line for the running this time round?
The conservatives want us to believe Hillary Clinton, but I don't think so. Bill Frist for the Republicans with John McCain as an outside long shot. Howie Dean and a cast of thousands for the democrats. McCain is probably the only one who might run from either side who I'd be able to vote for in good conscience.

Thanks chic. Can't tell the players without a scorecard.

Understand this is just my half-baked opinion. May have no relationship with reality.

Shit. That ain't until '08. Whatsamatter, no interest in the other half of the US leaders races coming up next year?

If he doesnt drop out of this one. That pissed me off when he did in his last run. He was the best candidate IMO

The only Dem I could see myself voting for with enough ass to run is Leiberman, but if he couldn't even take down SKerry, he has zero chance against the Hildebeast.

I forgot about Joe. You're right about him not getting nominated, though. I'm telling you though, the whole Hillary thing is misdirection. If the conservatives are bent on having a woman run (and they're usually the ones I hear talking about it, the democrats realize she's unelectable), why not Condi? Can you imagine the uproar having a black woman running for president would cause? I also happen to think she'd be a very effective president. Not very popular though.

In a nutshell: Self-righteous, votebuying, demagouge, liar A in a nice charcoal suit will do battle with self-righteous, votebuying, demagouge, liar B in a nice chacoal suit with a Bible in hand. Its been that way for 8 generations.
