Barton 3000+ Launched Today

I'm sure many of you already know that next week is going to be very exciting. AMD are releasing the new AthlonXP 3000+ processor based on the "Barton" core on Monday the 10th, and following that we should see the 64-bit Opteron April 22, the AthlonXP 3200+ by mid-2003, and the highly anticipated 64-bit Athlon64 processor by September 2003.

cool, at 2.16GHz with 512K L2 it should scream. some places have o'ced it about 350Mhz, so it seems scalable too

Never mind millionaire, I'm not even in the upper income tax bracket so I guess for the moment a Barton is out...

dunno, thinking i might actually wait on hammer, or sample the last Barton core as i'm gettin fed up of socket A, might get a higher speed PIV when its out though, something to at least be more or less guranteed to hit 4.5Ghz for a 1Ghz+ leap from my current PIV chip
