it may come back to bite you.

Senator John Kerry, the presumed Democratic presidential candidate who is trading on his Vietnam war record to campaign against President George W Bush, tried to defer his military service for a year, according to a newly rediscovered article in a Harvard University newspaper.

He wrote to his local recruitment board seeking permission to spend a further 12 months studying in Paris, after completing his degree course at Yale University in the mid-1960s.

The revelation appears to undercut Sen Kerry's carefully-cultivated image as a man who willingly served his country in a dangerous war - in supposed contrast to President Bush, who served in the Texas National Guard and thus avoided being sent to Vietnam.

as much as this goes against me in every way

I doubt he will. He plays the politics game just like all others. It would be nice if it were true but again I figure he was against the war he will avoid doing anything in Iraq.

Just curious oh freakosan, if Sen Kerry was against the war in Iraq, why did he vote YEA in the halls of congress when it really really mattered?

I'm sayin ghe doesn't know what he's for or against until he sticks his wet finger in the air & tests the direction of todays prevailing winds (kinda like Willie)

playing politics again. I had thougth anyone who ran had a definite standard. either for something or against it. not saying there isnt a grey area but that generally they would have a view and stick to it

Mr Kerry has never stood for anything...he has a long history of waffling

i dont like that at all. I want someone who stnads for what I do when I vote. while it is no secret i dont like Bush he at least had a definite stand. Kerry doesnt which is worrysome to me.

Eric, there isn't one of them that has a stand you can trust. They will all happily turn 180 degrees if they think it will win the election.

you have a point there Chic. Squiggs I do take it with a grian of salt but I dont think he means to steer me wrong and it is true that Kerry hasnt made a definite stand anywhere according to links i saw before I made this post.
