Bremer Hands Over Iraqi Sovereignty Two Days Before Deadline

ah, now the involvement secrecy starts, that I was talkin about
it another thread. :nerd: A good move, I think.

What a stroke of genius. Put the terrorists in a bad position. They were planning to disrupt the ceremonies, and kill a few more people to further their cause, and, now, they're left standing with no targets of opportunity. Of course, you can expect the opposition folks to say something like "you didn't give us a chance to speak"...and I'm not talking about the opposition in Iraq...

Another thread showing integrity of the US & its allies & another thread of silence.

Truly a remarkable day in history--let freedom reign!

The citizens of Iraq will have a say in their government. It's a chance to control their destiny. It's all anyone can ask for.

What is there to comment on ,nothings changed.

But once the surprise was over, what had actually changed?

Less than 24 hours after the handover, three US marines were killed in a roadside bomb in Baghdad.

US troops are staying put, but the new prime minister stood before a row of proud Iraqi flags to announce that Saddam Hussein was to appear before an Iraqi judge to be charged for the many atrocities committed under his rule.

Never mind that the Americans helped prepare the podium, that Saddam Hussein will remain under US guard - even if legally he is in Iraqi custody. Mr Allawi announced that the new government had "total sovereignty" over the former dictator.

Symbolism counts in Iraq today, but it won't be enough to satisfy the country's long-suffering people for ever.

The socialists will not give it a rest will they? Bound & determined to take pot shots at this victory until the bitter end & still it won't be enough. That's okay. We all know the truth.

:usa:

More of a realist as opposed to the delusions of some.

US invades Iraq

US position :we will be welcomed with opened arms and don't need to detain those in uniform.

reality : The people welcome Saddams dethroning but want the US out and those released regroup to take Coalition casualties.

Whose the enemy:

US position : once we have Saddam ,the attacks will stop

reality :The enemies are anti-western and no matter how many times the US changes who the enemy is (Foreign fighters,Saddam Supports,Al Sadr Militia ,Al Quaeda etc....) that isn't going to change .

Sovereign Iraq:

US position : we are turning over Iraq to Iraqis

Reality: nothing has changed , the Coalition is there and will be for a long time ,the US has assured that when elections are called only those friendly to US interests will be allowed to run for office. And in the meantime Soldiers continue to die .If re-elected Bush will reinstate the Draft (personal opinion) ,he has nothing to lose in that he won't be able to run for re-election again and the extra troops are needed as they are currently reactivating retired personal to meet the demands of troop rotation.

If only we had International support and troops things would be better:

US position:If only we had International support and troops things would be better

Reality: Afghanistan has unfettered international support with troops and provisions and they have postponed elections therem twice so far .Anything outside of Kandihar isn't safe because of warring factions and the government is hanging on by a string. If the US had put the resources into Afghanistan instead of going after windmills in Iraq ,Al Quaeda would have been defeated and Bin Laden killed.Afghanistan has none of the oil resources of Iraq or the religious base ,yet they haven't solved the problems there yet.Somehow those that would call me anti-Bush (wtf-except for Iraq I could give a flying fuck about the guy) seem to keep saying everything is rosey and when its pointed out that it isn't bash those who point out the Emperor is wearing any clothes. whatever

Israel & Palestine have an uneasy quiet.
Libya gave up WMDs the world didn't know they had.
Iran is tumbling.
Pakistan & India are on speaking terms.
Saudia Arabia is cracking down on militants.
Usama bin forgotten is hiding in a cave.

The Emperor is finely dressed.

Yes but I'm certain the next episode will

7)While continuing his old ways
WASHINGTON — The United States is resuming direct diplomatic ties with Libya even while exploring reports that Muammar al-Qaddafi (search) took part in a plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia's crown prince.
Abdullah is Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler since King Fahd is gravely ill.

Ereli said Monday that if the reports of a plot proved true, "it would call into question continued development of relations with Libya."

8)Experts: Iran Ready to Take It to the Brink
Some foreign policy analysts say Washington may find it difficult to fight back.
The U.S.-led invasion of Iraq squandered much of the U.S. authority in the Middle East and may have damaged America's ability to get help from Muslim states to fend off threats from Iran, he said.
9) They've been in talks since '98
10)But are they still funding Al Qaeda???
11)So this whole Iraq thing was to make the World forget about who was Behind 9/11 .Good job Bush
:tardbang:

These examples were all taken from Bush friendly foxnews ,from stories within the last week.

Pessimist. It's going in the right dirsection & it seems you are among the group that can't stand it.

Another article from bushnews ,oops I mean foxnews

It’s highly unlikely that Iraq’s deeply ingrained political divisions can be erased through peaceful, negotiated compromise. All previous efforts to bind together the Sunni (search) and the Shia (search), while simultaneously accommodating the Kurds, shared one basic characteristic: They all failed.

Today, Iraq appears as ungrateful to some American eyes as it did to Churchill’s 80 years ago. More importantly, President Bush’s blurred vision prevents him from seeing how decidedly volcanic Iraqi politics has remained. At the least, the upcoming year of blazing constitutional conflict should serve to bring reality back into sharp focus..
