The Prime Minister, Tony Blair, said last night that he was prepared to commit Britain to entry to the euro despite public opinion polls showing a majority against the single currency.
Mr Blair made clear that the threat of war on Iraq and stock market turbulence had not dimmed his personal commitment to Britain's entry to the euro, if the five economic tests were met.
