So....
 
it is guaranteed if you didn't buy a ticket

and if someone didn't gain physical access to your phone
and modify it to do 'dead phone' then I guarantee it ain't listening to your convo's

Yes...but how would you know if they did? I'm sure you don't keep the darn thing in a safe, and, if you take long trip, I'm sure you don't carry it around everywhere...unless you don't even have one...;)
 
OK so lets assume that a government agency wanted
to investigate my goings ons,
Either
A: I'd have to be involved in some nefarious activity

hereto therefore

B: I'd take appropriate measures to counter their attempts
to monitor my conversations and such

Similar to the bad guys that were using satellite phones
and then finding themselves targeted by JDAMS

bad move Habib, better luck next time
