"Today's bill signing is a victory for American consumers and entrepreneurs. The Class-Action Reform Act takes a significant first step to reining in lawsuit abuse," Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said in a statement. "I'm proud of what we've accomplished, and look forward to building on this momentum as we continue moving America forward."

Well HomeLAN? Whadda ya think?

I read that it will end the frivolous lawsuits and allow the legitimate ones. This is a law I can agree with

Well, I'm not sure that the jury isn't still out, but at least he's addressing the problem. I was just thinking how sad it is to live in a country where it's news when an elected official actually keeps a promise.

I applaud it as a significant first step. I further applaude the "pain and suffering" limits my state just slapped on the same type of lawsuits. May I simply say, "What took you so fucking long?"

I wonder if your question would be something like this

We want to protect the consumers.

Naturally I support the idea of protecting the consumer but they did it wrong. hence the lawsuits that were worthless and clogging the system.

Leading to needing laws protecting us from lawyers.

Umm... which are of course written by lawyers too. Don't worry though, I'm sure these are the altruistic ones.

I seem to sense a pattern here. Why didn't we just follow Shakespeares advice?

I find that an excellent suggestion, now we'll probably get sued for saying it though.

They're working on a non-financial cap here in MO right now too. Word is it's going to be 250k. The Drs are all over it, the malpractice insurance rates have been skyrocketing here in MO for the last few years.

Yeah makes sense, I through improper lifestyle choices or through the accident of lousy genes inherited or through dumbass behavior resulting in an accident or through any one of 250 million zillion other causes need medical help.

So I show up there and the Doctor who is only just 'practicing' medicine can not play God and provide a miracle cure I should be able to sue the daylights outta someone! Now if you have lived life in a reasonable fashion and have something that needs taking care of that shouldn't be any big deal you will be taking it up the anal orifice financially to make up for my settlement.

There is a solution to this situation but it will never ever happen.
