Dear Garmon,

I am barrister MUSA SANNI(Esq) ,a solicitor at law.Iam the personal attorney to Mr Mark Garmon,a national of your country, who used to work with shell Development Company in Nigeria. Here in after shall be referred to as my client. On the 21st of April 1999, my client, his wife and their three Children were involved in a car accident along Sagbama express-road. All occupants of the vehicle unfortunately lost their lives.
Since then I have made several enquiries to your embassy to locate any of my clients extended relatives this has also proved unsuccessful.

After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to track his last name over the Internet, to locate any member of his family hence I contacted you. I have contacted you to assist in repatriating the money and property left behind by my client before they get confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank here these huge deposits were lodged. Particularly, with the UNION BANK PLC where the deceased had an account valued at about $31million dollars has issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or have the account confiscated within the next ten official working days.

Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 2 years now I seek your consent to present you as the next of kin of the deceased since you have the same last name so that the proceeds of this account valued at $31million dollars can be paid to you and then you and me can share the money.60% to me and 40% for you.My private email box is([email protected])

All I require is your honest cooperation to enable us seeing this deal through.
I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement
that will protect you from any breach of the law.

Best regards,
MUSA SANNI(Esq)

this is what I plan to say in response (no .. I can't let this one go and just delete it ... :D)

Dear Mr. Sanni,

Sure, sir, I will take care of this ... just as soon as the FBI finishes their background check on you and presents me with some credentials. Unless, of course, you would like to take care of that yourself? Notarized copies of your certifications will be fine, as well as your resume, list of associations, and the name of your company and immediate supervisor. I will also need contact phone numbers, date of birth, country of origin and country where you are presently living. When either you or the FBI provides me with what I need, I will know whether or not to pursue this arrangement, or press charges against you for fraud and extortion.

I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Nalani Garmon

what do you think, should I send it?

ACK! Just realized this was in RW ... oh well ...it does happen in the real world ... I'll leave it to the mods to see whether it should be moved or not ... :)

DO NOT SEND A RESPONSE!

This is a child of the ancient "Nigeria scam". Don't even let them know your addy is valid. Just delete it and move on.

really? Bummer ... I don't know what it is but I really want to have a "word in" :D

Agree ,don't let them know they found a valid email addy.

Yep, one more vote, and if you do decide to play with him, go get a hotmail account, but for gods sake, don't use your real name on it either, make it entirely disposable.

I get them all the time na.... I just trash them. I've recieved the same basic letter from 4 or 5 different persons... (or not)

thanks everyone .. you've saved me loads of unnecessary emails and major headaches :)

:tardbang:

Do both...using a false name & hotmail addy, just to give 'em a little shock :D

THe scams are so good that they will be able to provide reams and reams of authentic looking materials to prove to you that they seem to be who they are. You could even fly over and visit them. They have a massive polished song and dance routine with nice offices and special staionary, phones.. blabla. They pass a few trinket bribes about and get stuff like police escorts and ... well.. pertty much anything. As soon as you give them what they want .. POOF ... they're gone... and there isn't a thing you can do about it. After all.. everyone up the food chain gets their cut.
