But while the big tail fins of the 50s and 60s have been consigned to the scrap heap of history, automakers think the retro look will be a big seller.
Which is why you’ll find it on Ford’s Thunderbird, BMW's Mini (top left), the new PT Cruiser, Hyundai’s Sonata – and even the recent VW Beetle convertibles. It’s on gauges, around glass, on the grill - and of course, on the wheels. “Quite frankly, the demand has exceeded our ability to produce,” admits Chrysler's Bob Longstreth.
I'm glad, I don't really like the looks of the unicolour bubblecars out the last few years.
