COLIN POWELL OUT

Foxnews

Secretary of State Colin Powell announced his resignation to his staff during their Monday morning meeting, a State Department source told FOX News.

Powell has never been quite on the same page as the administration has he?

Maybe if he ran he might be the first black president?!? I doubt it. He and Billary should shelve their ambitions if they have any. All I see is white men as president for at least 20 or more years, though either might be able to get in as a vice presidential candidate.

Ain't gonna happen. His wife wasn't too pleased about his stint as SOS (part of the reason he was making noises about quitting). No way is she going to let him go for 4 years at the top.

Shrillary, OTOH, will run. No real doubt in my mind.

I can't really tell yet whether it's a good choice. Coming out of NSA, though, it makes me nervous.

The Bush Mandate will positively shape the country for a century. He will accomplish the agenda he ran on by appointing movers & shakers. (Look at the CIA for a prequel). The previous 4 years was compromise for winning the election but not the popular vote.

Kinda like the Reagan mandate did? :grinno:

I absolutely love the Condi appointment. I think some folks are too busy trying to deride it to realize how huge a deal it is (or should be) for black women. I just hope it is recognized as such in that community.

Meeting all of these objectives will require wise and skillful leadership at the Department of State, and Condi Rice is the right person for that challenge. She's a recognized expert in international affairs, a distinguished teacher and academic leader, and a public servant with years of White House experience. She displays a commitment to excellence in every aspect of her life, from shaping our strategy in the war on terror, to coordinating national security policy across the government, to performing classical music on stage. Above all, Dr. Rice has a deep, abiding belief in the value and power of liberty, because she has seen freedom denied and freedom reborn.

As a girl in the segregated South, Dr. Rice saw the promise of America violated by racial discrimination and by the violence that comes from hate. But she was taught by her mother, Angelina, and her father, the Reverend John Rice, that human dignity is the gift of God, and that the ideals of America would overcome oppression. That early wisdom has guided her through life, and that truth has guided our nation to a better day.

I know that the Reverend and Mrs. Rice would be filled with pride to see the daughter they raised in Birmingham, Alabama, chosen for the office first held by Thomas Jefferson. Something tells me, however, they would not be surprised.

A democrats wet dream. Well, maybe the elephant in the living room scares 'em.

Sure but why now? We needed her in 1987, not now.

It's too early to say that. It's fun for political games but reality says we're moving away from her. Four years from now is another kettle of fish (why does it smell like tuna in here?)

Reality? You mean the polls? No. All the polls say is that John Kerry was a much worse candidate then Al Gore. I called this one two years ago and i believe it now as much as i did then.
