Commencement Speeches

Sounds like so many honorary speakers decided to take it upon themselves to shove their up-in-yans(opinions) upon this years graduating class. They were talking about some interesting incidents this morning on npr but i was too busy to hear much of it. Anyone find any good stories?

There was something about one of the whiners saying something to the affect of booing people who speak is more like a tyranical society than America. I'll see if I can dig it up.

I heard a couple others. One was an anti war speech talking about the arrogence of Americans and Arab anger, the other was about christians following on the footsteps of us soldiers to spread christianity to the Arab word. And then there were others. Apparently none of these went over well with students throwing their caps and gowns on stage or walking out. Some of the speakers even had the plug pulled on them amidst the cries of freedom of speech. All in all it didn't sound like they went too well this year. I guess because the students selfishly thought the day belonged them.

Actually, the one Phil Bredesan (TN governor) gave at MTSU wasn't bad (my wife just graduated). He talked about the students and what was ahead. No politics, no partisanship, no rhetoric. I was pleasantly surprised.
