So much for those who suggest conservatism needs to be re-invented or toned down on various issues! :shrug:

The balance of party identification in the American electorate now favors the Democratic Party by a decidedly larger margin than in either of the two previous presidential election cycles.

In 5,566 interviews with registered voters conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press during the first two months of 2008, 36% identify themselves as Democrats, and just 27% as Republicans.

The share of voters who call themselves Republicans has declined by six points since 2004, and represents, on an annualized basis, the lowest percentage of self-identified Republican voters in 16 years of polling by the Center.

It's pretty much the poor candidates, bad platform, and no ideas that are doing them in.

Backlash over the gigantic Bush era screw ups sure didn't help though.
 
Unfortuately, conservatives traditionally aligned with the Republican party. That does not make the Republicans conservative. In fact they have a history of being "progressive". The conservative base has kept them right of center on many core issues but in the last decade, the (R) have moved very far left, chasing the Democrats while those of us who see no change as American & change for the sake of change as corrupt politics have wondered what the hell happened.

These days, many Dems are wondering where their own party is going.

It's time to take our nation back from the politicians...on both sides of the fence. Start fresh. Before it's too late.

Right, just like it doesn't make the Democrats liberal.

Yep, makes sense with my graph. Many of them probably have even become Democrats. Good stuff.
