BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - A flare lit during a rock concert ignited the foam ceiling of a Buenos Aires nightclub packed with teenagers, starting an inferno that killed 175 people, many of them teens, and injured more than 600, officials and witnesses said Friday.

An emergency exit in the building was believed to have been locked to prevent people from coming in without paying — leaving the club's main entrance as the only way in or out, said Buenos Aires Mayor Anibal Ibarra.

the very same happened a few years ago in Mexico City, but the bastards kept the doors closed (ever after knowing about the fire) and only let out those who had payed the bill.

If that happend, I would figure that the managers and doormen who were trying to keep the human flood back would be stomped to death by the stampede.

amazing how much money is worth. thats pathetic.

now what kind of idiot lights a firework inside a club

Something similar happened over here in Göteborg(aka Gothenburg) a few years ago, with ~200 dead iirc.

Rest in peace.

they are a band that would have had everything set so that when the works went off there would have been a minimal chance of injury.

Chic: thats the point I was making by saying how much money is worth.

RM: sarcastic as that was I wouldnt be adverse to it if concerts sucked. they dont and people know what they are getting into. No outlawing them. We can outlaw crappy bands like Nsuck.

Reguardless thoo freak0,

Concerts are just too dangerous, people are dying. People are not smart enough to protect themselves. The govenment must either out-law them out-right or regulate them and place a tax on them to pay for the oversight of the regulations. There needs to be strict policies created on how a concert can be conducted to save lives.

I thought you leaned fairly liberal, this is the way of the liberal.

to some extent I would agree. But then again I consider myself liberal in the idea of being progressive. I am pro choice, against the drug war, feminist, for equal rights for miniorities. I do not particularly agree with the big government which is a more liberal idea.

Yep, it's our fault. I bet that kid that lit the flare probably heard about the the Great White concert. It's our fault.

I did say minimal but as Gonz pointed out: accidents can and do happen. nothing is truly perfect. as does idiocy as this story pointed out
