I hate when people are so incredibly insensitive to the feelings of others, don't you? Even in a completely legitimate context, it's just awful to say & do things that are insensitive. I think we should drop red, yellow, black & white from our vocabulary, Take Spic n Span, the floor cleaner, from the shelves. On second thought, fuck it, get over yourself you mindless little cretin, there's more in the world than your personal ignorance.

Parent is angered by skin tone remarks

ST. PETERSBURG -- In a theater class at Gibbs High School, teacher Toni Mitchell led a discussion this week about lighting on stage.

Mitchell said Wednesday she told all of her students -- black and white -- that they should stay out of the sun. For the sake of their careers, they should not get a tan because the darker someone's skin, the harder it is to light them on stage.

"Lighter is better," Mitchell said she told her students at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts, housed at Gibbs.

Some black students thought that was a racially insensitive remark. DeLana Clark, the mother of one of those students, complained Wednesday to principal Barbara Shorter.

"I just can't believe an adult, for one, let alone a teacher, would say those type of things to a black kid who may be feeling insecure already," Clark said.

Mitchell, 47, has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the school district conducts an investigation. School officials won't describe the nature of the investigation other than it is "for allegations of inappropriate conduct in a classroom," said Jackie Spoto Bircher, an attorney for the school district.

Rest of the nonsense

That's not all, for niggardly vocabulary

You know what's really funny(not), is that so many people can manage being racist or just plain insensitive to certian peoples and yet they still have the capacity to be politically correct. I was raised and taught that you never dis anything about someones physical characteristics. Going one step farther i would say anything about that person that is beyond their control(mental issues etc...). I think as a general rule this is good advice. Ignorance ignorance ignorance. If it's not ignorance than it's just racism, of course, racism in itself is ignorance. Never the less, our society still has a long way to go to wipe out rasicm. The biggest problem i would say are no longer out & out in your face bigots, but the issues that so many of us have with racism that we fail to recognize. *phanwink*

You know what I hate about racists?

the way they're always training and acting like everyone should work out .. and the way the take up the entire road on the day of the race :grumpy:

hehehe .. sorry about that .. it's been a long day .. and it's not over yet ... I'm gonna get a little weirder as the hours tick on ..
