It was my grandparents' 60th anniversary last week.

Just wow. *all awestruck and warm and fuzzy*

My wifes folks celebrated their 60th a couple of months ago. That's a long time to not kill somebody.

My grandparents on my dad's side had been married for (I think) 62 years before grandpapa passed away last October.I remember always thinking that I wanted any marriage I had to turn out like that. It didn't, obviously... but I still hold out that hope for the next one.

Next time you listen to ME :eyemouth:

I think my folks are between 40 and 45 years now. How either of them did it without braining the other is beyond me.

60 years together is special. They deserve a real throwdown.

We had one on Saturday, some of their old and dear friends were there, and all of the family (except the one cousin who is now in the collective doghouse). They got a letter from the Queen, and from the Governor General of Canada. And lots and lots of cake and wine.

no, cuz I told him so. And not bad, 10 actually married, 14 years of residing together in total.

That is fantastic....my folks didn't quite make 25 years before splitting....but seeing as how they were escalating to brainings I suppose it's for the best

What ...no Viagra :alienhuh:

I think my parents were somewhere around 10 or 12 I think but he cheated on her for a long time before they split up. I was only married about 3 years, but young kids make stupid mistakes.

My father's father left my grandmother after something like 40 years together. My mother's father died when she was 16.

We threw a surprise party for my parents for their 40th birthday, last year. There were times that they didn't think they would make it but they did! Things are so different now, people rush into marraige and get divorced just as quickly.

I went to a wedding last year and during the first dance where the DJ has all the couples on the dance floor, he asked that all the people who weren't married to leave the dance floor. Then the people who had been married less than 1 year. Then less than 5 years (at which half of the couples left the floor). Then 10, 20, etc. When they got to 40, there were only 5 couples and they were all related to me.

But there was one couple married 60 years. Two of them, smiling ear to ear. They danced with the newlyweds and everyone clapped, it was a sight. And a tender moment, something I won't soon forget. :)
