Seven states have no state income tax: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. Two others, New Hampshire and Tennessee, tax only dividend and interest income.

Yeah, but most of those states also have killer property taxes. They make it up somewhere, you can be sure.

mmh, I suppose... Here in Ontario we pay 45% or something if you are in the top bracket (over $100,000).

Denmark has the highest income tax rate, with its top-taxed citizens paying 68% of their hard-earned crowns. The basic tax rate begins at 42%.

Not usually property taxes. Sales taxes. And it works.
Haha, sales tax?

Ontario: 8%

Texas: 6.25%
Alaska: None

Most states are 4% or 5% actually. A few has no sales tax.

Ah now let us see...

Great Britain: 17.5%
Denmark: 25%
Sweden: 25%
Netherlands: 19%

Mhh, Canada isn't that bad afterall. :canada: :canada:

(I'm researching tax rates for a project, and this is kind of interesting)

face it... there is no magic pill. Taxes are fairly huge everywhere. No matter how they choose to dress up that pig... its still just a pig.

I remember a story where the government siezes every slap damn penny of the oil money and ships it east in boxcars to cover the governments padded vote buying welfare schemes in Ontario, Quebec, and the super poor PEI, Newfie, Scotia. I think that link is somewhere in this forum... just buried at least 3 months back.

Yeah, Texas state is 6.25. Most localities tack on 1-2 % to make up for the state revenue that isn't getting shraed. It's a lot higher in most places, believe me.

However, they make it work fine. My county and state hit me for 6%, PLUS a 6% state income tax. Which would you prefer?

Yeah we make it up somewhere. Oil. Even after that the state still pays every Alaskan resident between $1500.00 & $2000.00 dollars each year. There's been talk over the past few years of just paying those dividends out in one lump some too. That would mean anyone lucky enough to be a resident at the time would get a check somewhere between $65-$85,000.00. The wealth of the state government can play a big part in just how much you pay or even receive from your state. Seward's folly... Uh-huh..Yeah!

Wouldn't it be neat to live in a state with low income tax, next to a store across from a state border and order your groceries online so they wouldn't be able to charge you sales tax? :retard:

Last time I checked we had 6.5% or so in Illinois. After you get used to it you don't really notice it much

6% is the going rate almost everywhere. IN will be there in time for X-mas shopping season.

NYC is about 8%, with locals thrown in.

Just under 6% here. Whats cool is i can walk down to the computer store, buy a computer and have them deliver it to my friends house four miles away saving me the 5.5% tax because he's out of city limits and doesn't have to pay it. There are a few advantages to having only 25 miles of road.

I had that kind of idea with those two sliver arms of land coming east off of West Virginia and west out of Maryland. Living in one of those two places, you could walk to Pennsylvania, W. Virginia, Maryland, Virginia. I'm sure that you could play off all parties for great prices.
