Down the slope we go

First the courts mandate. Then the law-makers legislate. Now the entrepreneurs must follow or be sent back to the courts.

A lesbian couple filed a discrimination complaint against a family-run inn because the Roman Catholic owners said they would be reluctant to plan and host a civil union ceremony.

Maybe the Inn-keepers will be forcd to sell their private property to a homo-friendly, higher-taxed enterprise.

See why they passed Hate Crimes laws first?

Here's the problem. Hate crimes were passed because there was a visible lack of 'equal protection under the law'. There was also the rather obvious prosecution of minorities at a higher rate going on. Instead of fixing the problem as it was (too much work, I guess), the easy way was to add more legislation. Since that result was somewhat lackluster, Congress did what congress does best. They changed the rules to fit the reaction of society. Have to get re-elected, you know. ;)

Do the crime do the time.

unless you are Kobe, OJ or Michael

oh and Barretta?

Does it really irk you to know that blacks per capita commit more crimes than white folks?

Sure I knew you could.

C’Mon buddy jus cuz yer black that don’t make you a badguy.

Yeah yeah yeah I know Kobe wasn’t guilty of rape just bein’ stupid Daumn

Stand by your man
What could be more fun than watching your husband defend himself in a rape trial by claiming it was merely adulterous consensual sex? Vanessa Bryant, wife of Kobe, does not look like a happy camper.

aw hell why not it werked for Billary!

The diagnostic manual of the American Psychiatric Association used for defining mental illness has grown from 60 to over 330 maladies in 50 years. More than 4 million homosexuals, for example, went from sick to well in 1973, not from therapy but merely by being dropped from the category.

Perhaps that would account for a 5-10% difference. Thet actual numbers are staggering (and very sad)

Or is it they are just arrested/charged more

Dangerous argument going on here. Let me add some informed tidbits.

I cannot place my hands on the source just now, so go ahead and rant if one must. But I do work in law enforcement and we do see these statistics regularly. Take this for what you think it's worth; no skin off my nose either way.

Yes, blacks are arrested more frequently than other racial groups. Yes, they are convicted more often. And yes, the statistics do show that they also commoit a greater percentage of crimes as well. It's a simple matter of form following function. One side will decry the numbers, claiming that it's racist against blacks. The other will use the same numbers to defend it, saying that it's merely a reflection of what is really happening...blacks are convicted more because they are more often guilty. Both sides use the same numbers to bolster their own arguments. Hell, maybe both are right.

My own caseload is almost spot-on in terms of percentages of the community. Granted, this ain't Memphis, so the majority of my caseload is white because the majority of the citizens here are white. I have precisely zero Hispanics, and we do have a number of Hispanic farm workers here depending on what growing season it is. Conversely, about 60% of the population here is pure redneck, and so is my caseload...go figure! :lloyd:

Memphis is much more, shall we say, integrated than it is here. Therefore, I would expect a far greater percentage of my caseload to be folks of elevated skin pigment.

Which takes us back to my original quote. The $64,000,000. question is ...Why?

And I refer you to my ten-cent answer. It depends on who you ask. Both sides use the exact same data and reports and figures to support their own argument.

But the one thing never mentioned is that most of those idiots are repeat offenders. Adjust your numbers again.
