Dubya's stupidest quotes (politics)

Aack ... what is it with Florida and Bush?
His brother Jeb is the governor (wait aren't they from Texas, or is it Maine). I know it's all over now, but my rampant paranoia will probably never get past the fact that it was the one state he had to carry, the "pregnant chads," his brother is the governor.........

Yes I too believe this belongs in RW!

So, tell me again, why did most of you vote for Bush?

I didn't vote for him! Looking back though I wouldn't want to see Gore trying to deal with the WTC and N Korea. He just doesn't seem to have any backbone when it comes to foreign policy.

Because he was the best of the bad choices I had.

You could at least have voted for someone who speaks the same language and lives on the same planet... :rofl3:

I was tricked :(

Usually I like to throw a way my vote too, but Ross didn't run this time. And Jesse Ventura seems to be waiting for the next election. And considering my background is in economics, there is no way I would dare throw my vote away on Nader. What if he won :D

Seriously, when I compare Bush to Gore, it's Gore who's in outer space. We've all heard people say of someone, "he's pretty smart, but he doesn't have a lot of common sense." Common sense just means being connected to reality; and it's true that you can be very intelligent and have a lot of book learning, but be totally disconnected from reality. That's the way I see Gore-- although he's not actually that smart. His lack of common sense explains why he has such a difficult time relating to ordinary people. He can talk to Harvard professors just fine, because he's in the same orbit with them.

I voted for Bush because I trust Gore even less than Clinton... and that's really saying something!

You notice when we (left leaning) really have a valid point they (right leaning), always refuse to answer or change the subject. We Libs have been guilty of it to be sure, but they always act like only Libs do it, and they are just as guilty. Hats off to Inkara and Ardsgaine for replying at all.

How does that apply in this thread? Because Ards and Inky were the only two right wingers to answer?

Besides the link that started this thing (yeah, we know that sometimes Bush isn;t a stunning public speaker), to what "valid point" are you referring?

You could't get this done on a thread that was more on point and a little younger?

what I notice is that it seems we're no longer people with free thought anymore, but rather identified by "liberal" or "conservative", and it's getting to be absolutely-phreaking-ridiculous.

I could have used any of a number of threads, but the point is the same. Dubya says stupid stuff. It's a valid and and incontrvertable fact. He isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I don't see any right wingers defending him, even the ones that do really only say that he was better than Gore. It's true on both sides of the aisle, when the left or right has a valid point the other side shuts up or chenges the subject. I only hear conservatives blaming liberals for that here. Maybe I am the first to openly admit both sides do it, but I am tired of being accused of it when they do it too.

There are also times when you have to pick your fights. Sometimes it becomes so pointless to argue further because some persons beleifs are so firmly entrenched that even when they are plenty of valid arguments against their stance, it is futile to continue the argument.

I agree with that as well. I wear the label liberal because I am called it and I am indeed to the left on many issues, but I have some conservative ideals as well, because I don't blindly follow the banner of the left.

Your first assertion is true, but your second is far overblown, if not completely false.

I personally think the guy isn't that great a public speaker. I don;t beleieve he's nearly as stupid as many would have you believe.

As for labels, they usually get assigned based on what you post. At times, they're also based on with whom you ally yourself (and who you invite in on your "side").

Oh I do not believe Dubya is really dumb per se, but to say things that stupid he can't possibly be of the highest intellect.

I haven't much evidence to support it, but I believe Dick Cheney is the real man in charge.
