We did it. Just mailed the check. We now* own 3.53 acres of prime mountain-view farmland free and clear.

Of course, we'll have to put it up as collateral when we make our decision on what home to rebuild, but hey...at least for a few weeks it's all ours!

*Now = as soon as the mortgage company receives the check, processes the check, and creates all the required documentation to release their lien on the property.

Do you guys get suckered with "closure fees"?

I would assume they will get suckered with them...my mom even got suckered with them when she paid off our house with my dad's life insurance (his life insurance covered all debts with his name on them)...the company even wrote the bank a letter and the still charged my mom a couple grand I think...stupid bank *shakes fist*
