A Connecticut man who was suing the Norwalk, Conn. police for $1 million, claiming they mistreated him in a racist manner during his arrest several years ago, has settled his suit for a stereo and a “nominal sum” of cash, reports the AP.

Darnell Tatem swore and fought with police when he was arrested in 1996, receiving minor scrapes and scratches in the process. He later sued, claiming his treatment was racist.

Now he has agreed to drop the suit in exchange for unclaimed stereo equipment seized by police in a separate incident.

What kind of stereotype does it enforce that he would drop a big lawsuit like that in exchange for a bitchin' stereo? :D

If this was a rightful suit (note the "if") then he basically just bitched himself out for a candybar (comparatively)... Basically he knew he wouldn't get far and the police didn't want to deal with it.
