The Richmond Times Dispatch reported Monday that Virgina's House of Delgates had passed a bill that would fine people up to $50.00 for intentionally exposing their underwear in a "lewd and indecent" manner.

This bill targets primarily black urban youth emulating their rap star idols by wearing loose and baggy pants.

Interestingly the House of Delegates also passed a bill that prohibits the taking of a picture of a person's underwear or intimate parts.

***end***

Glory be to Virginia legislators. I am sick to death of having some thug's drawers on display every time I go out in public.

So...I suppose white urban youth who wear loose and baggy pants are less annoying? How about women?

On occasion I get some wannabe on my caseload who comes in here once with his britches around his knees.

Key word: once.

I guess the porn industry there isn't gonna be too happy about that.

I also was annoyed by this "target" . Where we live I see more white youth wearing the pants that are "kicking the droop".

In this household, I can say that the 11.8 year old will not under any circumstances walk out of this house where her under garments show or her pants are big enough for 4 people to fit in them.

I noted that "target" too. I "hope" it's the reporter putting his own spin on it and not the legislature?

I got this from www.tonguetied.us. The site posts PC crap news stories. They recently announced that they are bringing in outside writers and such as well. This is from one of those writers. I didn't copy/paste all of it because to do so would have left those unfamiliar with the site confused. The line about "targeting" is his addition I believe.

Still, I'd vote for it.

I hate sluts, but this is not the responsibility of the government, this falls under the jurisdiction of PARENTS.

No way I would vote for this. Vote libertarian.

I agree, parents should stop this stuff in the home.

Sadly, some choose not to. And when these thugs enter the public arena, it becomes a public issue, to be dealt with as such.

Laws are standards enacted publicly to deal with afronts to public issues.

No, this is not as vital as someone getting raped or whatever, but since a significant number of adults either choose not to or are incapable of enforcing decency on their offspring, it becomes society's obligation to address it. Hence, I would support a law like this were it introduced in my area. Cuz I'm sick of lookin' at these thugs' drawers.

This bill targets primarily black urban youth...

An interview with one of the legislators said this wasn't the reasoning...he said that all the young whippersnappers were showing off their underwear & it got annoying. Which I agree. It is not a legal matter however.

IS NOONE THINKING OF THE THONGS? THINK OF THE THONGS! :crying3:

You know what's interesting. Ontario goes topless and you people ban underpant showage.

I think thats a bit of a broad generalisation isn't it? Just because you follow a fashion style does not essentially make anyone a slut.

Not to me. I'm an equal opportunity asshole. :D
