Former NFL star busted for pot possession

FAIRHOPE. Ala. (Court TV) — Former NFL star Thurman Thomas was arrested and charged with marijuana possession, police said Monday.

Thomas was in town participating in a charity golf tournament when he was arrested at a hotel early Saturday.

Police said he had one partially smoked marijuana cigarette in his possession.

Thomas was charged with second-degree possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor indicating the drug is for personal use. He was booked and released in time to play golf Saturday morning.

Thomas helped lead the Bills to four straight Super Bowls in the early 1990s, and finished his career with 12,074 yards in 13 seasons.

Thomas was the league MVP in 1991 and selected to five Pro Bowls. He was a star at Oklahoma State before his pro career.

It's a shame. Fairhope is a really neat little town on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, with a vibrant, active renovated downtown area with lots of little bohemian-artsy shops and restaurants. It's a cool place to spend an afternoon. The police force is very strict, so it's not really surprising to see them hassling someone who came to town to spend a ton of money and donate their time to HELP A CHARITY. Freakin' redneck cops.

Sometimes it seems the cops are trying to criminalize everyone...:disgust2:

Not many better TV specials than shit like "OJ Kills" or "Baretta:If you can't do the time..." People want to build them up & watch their collapse.
